Heavy Weapons Teams.

I came up with a smart idea when it comes to saving some pieces or getting the biggest bang from you Heavy Weapons kits.
Some time now I've been working on three Heavy Bolter Teams for my Traitor Imperial Guard Army - The Strom Renegades.

As you can see the right one is still not 100% finished.

A close-up on the first one I did build. The only one that I consider finished right now.

The second one, this time without the shield, I think they feel more "dug-in" without it.

The last one still needs some more Grey Stuff and sand on the roof. Also another coat of paint is needed and a bit of scorched grass here and there.

Strom Renegade Update!

It's been almost two months since my last update, mostly because I've been painting on a whole lot of different projects. A lot of painting and not so many pictures, just yet. I've added a second Veteran squad and a Psyker battlesquad. Both which are at the undercoating stage right now.

More Renegade Veterans!

A couple of more pics of my Veterans.

And two Flamer-troopers, one is still missing an arm...

And the Vox-operator, the only one the got a double-sized magazine for his gun.

I'm really itching to get these ones into the painting-stage!

A hard days work...

Today has been all about assembly, with a capital "A". 43 Guards, including 2 Guard squads, 20 Zombie-Conscripts, a Mortar team and another Sgt. for my first platoon. It's been a productive day I have to say. The Zombie-conscripts, I have to say, were the hardest ones to work with. Their hands are not really suited to carry Lasguns. But in the end I think it will work. Some of them also got some Cadian helmets and some other stuff - to make them more military than shambling undead.
Next up is getting some more round bases - I ran out of round bases halfway thrue the Zombie squad. I also need to pick up a box of Cadian Hq. I will need the pieces to make two platoon command squads. And there are alot of nice pieces in that box - that I think will fit beatifully into the mix!
The Platoon Command Squad will consist of: Commander with a Boltpistol, one guardsman carrying a standard, one guardsman with a Meltagun, a Vox-caster and a Medic. The other Platoon Command squad will be identical.
Later on I will also have to build the HQ squad. A company Command Squad with: commander armed with either a Boltpistol or a Boltgun. A regemental standard, a Vox-Caster and two flamers. I'm also thinking about adding two bodyguards to the squad.

Summer Project 2009!

This years summer project come in different stages. The big one (!) is the building of a Traitor Imperial Guard army. Earlier this year I experimented with combining somw left-over IG-parts with some Imperial Militia parts - a strange and fun result. So as a birthday gift to myself I bought about 50 minis that I'm planning on turning into some Renagade troops.
The second part of this summers project is "picking up the slack" on some old projects: My Nurgle Chaos-Lord, patch up my Baneblade (from last summer), finish up a terminator squad, build and paint two Devestator Marines (H.Bolter and Lascannon), repaint a 5-man squad of Scouts.
Well, I do have my work cut out for me this summer!

Additions to the Raptors Chapter!

Assault Marines drop in for the kill! 4 Highly motivated killers and their sgt. Armed for close combat. The sgt. is armed with powerfist, plasmapistol and meltabombs. Nothing too fancy, just straight-forward brawlers.

Renegade Militia, Heavy support teams.

My Renegades need some heavy support for the battlefield. And I had some heavy weapons laying around, so why not get down to business and build some support teams!
A Heavy Bolter team. I ran out of empty bases for these two so I just placed them on some plasticard with the right measurements.

I have to say that I'm really pleased with this one. The Havoc-launcher that I had laying around makes for a real mean rocketlauncher (not as mobile as an ordinary one but cool-looking).

Renegade Militia

I did some work on the bases and gave most of these Renegades a bit of more paint.

I also started on 4 Ogryns, converted from a box of Warhammer Ogres (I've only started to paint 2 of them right now).
This "side project" is growing by the minute, and if it continues I will have to think seriously about building a "real" army out of all this...

The Deathguards of Plasticfish

I rounded up all of my Chaos stuff that I had laying around at home. And this was the result. It's mostly from my Deathguard army, but also some Guard Renegades and my Nurgling Baneblade.

A bit of a close-up view of the troops. 4 teams, with 6 Plaguemarines and an Aspiring Chamption in each of them. The ones on the right were modeled to be Possessed space marines from the old codex. Since the Possessed no longer has any ranged or close combat weapons they have been taken up as regular Plaguemarines.

A team of Havocs mounted in a Rhino.
The latest addition to the DeathGuard army are these Chosen, walking under the banner of Nurgle and armed with a Lascannon. The only one in the army, except for the Baneblade...

Some Guard renegades. I did build and paint these just for the fun of it. The ones on the right consist mostly of Warhammer Fantasy parts (Imperial Militias) and some spare Imperial Guard parts. A fun and workable combination of parts. The rest are a combination of Cadian and Catachan parts.

You can never have to much Chaos in your collection...

Additions,

Ok, new additions to the army: the primary HQ will be made up by a Captain and his HQ squad. I also needed some more heavy weapons and added a Devestator Squad, with the goal to add 3-4 Lascannons to the army. Well, the goal is to add 4 Lascannons, so I can deal with armoured threats on the table. But right now I only got 3 Lascannons to fit to the squad, so maybe I'll add a Heavy Bolter - to deal with those pesky footloggers you always run into...

Raptors by the points

I quickly ran the numbers of my current army and this is what I came up with. I'm still lacking a bit in the Heavy Support section, and Fast Attack options too. But that's a later issue. I was thinking about doing some changes to the HQ section, by adding a captain and a command squad to it instead for the chapter master. And when it comes to Heavy support I need something that can punch thrue armor, like some Lascannons in a Devestator Squad. My first aim is to reach 1500 pts with this army.
HQ
Space Marine Chapter Master 140 pts

Boltgun, Powersword (+15).
Troop #1
Space Marine TacticalSquad 106 pts
9 marines, 1 sergeant (Boltpistol, Chainsword),
Flamer, Missile launcher.
Troop #2
Space Marine Tactical Squad 106 pts
9 marines, 1 sergeant (Boltpistol, Chainsword),
Flamer, Missile launcher.
Troop #3
Space Marine Scout quad 115 pts
5 scouts, Sniper rifle, Missile launcher (+10), Camo Cloaks (+15)
Teleport Homer (+15)
Troop #4
Space Marine Scout Squad 105 pts
5 scouts (1 shotgun, 2 Bolters, 1 Boltpistol & Combat blade),
H.Bolter & Hellfire shells (+10), Melta Bombs (+5), Teleport Homer (+15)
Elites #1
Terminator Squad 430 pts
9 Terminators, 1 Sergeant, 1 Cyclone Missile Launcher (+30).
Elites #2
Dreadnought 105 pts
Elites #3
Dreadnought 105 pts
TOTAL: 1212 pts

For now it has all been about the numbers. Painting has been suspended on behalf of me catching a cold two weeks back. And insane coffing and painting does not go well together..!

The army as of now...

This is the army that has taken up encampment on my livingroom table. As you can see it's green, the most of it. But there are some black spots and some red...
The six black/silver marines in the front are my Deathwatch marines. The red scouts to the right of them are the remnants of my Blood Angel scouts that are going to join the Raptors in a near future. There are still five Terminators to paint. And the other Terminators still got a lot of detailwork to go. The Terminator in the far right corner is my Cyclone missile launcher.

A spare Termi with some added missilepods from a Land Speeder Typhoon from my bitsbox, makes for a pretty nice Cyclone Missile Launcher. A bit big, but on the cool side!

A quick glance on the Tactical Marines. Some detailwork are still missing and the Sgt:s still need some real skincolour(!).

Last, but not least, six Deathwatch Space Marines for those "tough-to-kill" Xenos-situations. Originaly these guys are part of my so called "Ordo Xenos project" but why not add them to this army.
The Force-commander and the Dreads are still only in the undercoat-stage. I haven't really gotten around to them yet. More to come!

A small addition...

After adding a lot of extra stuff to the scouts I didn't have any more room to add a teleport homer to the squad. So I put one on a seperate base.

It could also work as a pretty nice mission objective marker.

Scouts, now in colour, part 2.

About a year back I planned for a Blood Angels army but I never really got it going, so right now I'm looking at a squad of scouts and a tactical squad of Blood Angels that are of no use to me what so ever. On the other hand I'm pleased with the tactical squad so I'm not in the mood of repainting them.

But the scouts on the other hand - well, just say that they are going from red to green in a couple of days. As you can see, I have already started the process on the one to the right.

Scouts, now in colour, part 1.

This squad is the "not so mobile" sniping-squad. Equiped and armed for stealth. The first of the squads that I'm planning.
The whole squad from the front.
And from the back.
The sgt.
Rocketlauncher-man,
and one of the snipers, and another sniper.

The scouts have arrived!

Added a group of scouts to the army.

Here we have all five of them. Four snipers and a rocket launcher. I also added som gs-work on them, as you can see.

The gs-work on the kneeling snipers foot is a small detail that I first added to an Ork back in the "Ordo Xenos project". A small but nice detail, in my opinion. More gs cammo netting will be added to the rifles.

The scout sgt. yelling out the next target assigned for obliteration! I'm also going to add a Teleport Homer on a separate base.

Update!

Did some painting last week, and this is the result. I'm still working on the Tactical Marines.

The "tactical"-markings are a bit too white right now. It needs a layer of brown wash and some watered down bleached bone colour. Or just some bleached bone...

A close-up on two of them. The eagle on the chest is going to be in silver/metal. The Bolters are going to be washed with black or brown before I add some highlights. The lens on the scope will be blue or red (haven't decided yet).

Marked Raptors

Just trying out the new chapter markings.

It was harder to get them into place than I first thought but practice makes perfect, I think...
Ok, only 15 more Tactical Marines to go... And not to forget 10 Terminators...

Green Tactical Marines

So now all tactical marines are in the green, so to speak. Basecoated, armor colour and washed. Next up is details and high-lights.

Space Marines, part 4, Raptors Chapter Production blog.

I have started the work on my Raptors Chapter Space Marines. That also means that I've started my so called Raptors Chapter production blog, so I can document my work a little better.
The production blog can be found at http://raptorschapter.blogspot.com/ .
